BBC (Black-Brown and Copper) Soft Hackle
Hook - Mustad 9672 / Size 12
Thread - Pearsall's Gossamer Silk (Amber/No. 6) - well waxed
Rib - Medium Copper Wire
Body - LinCatex Wool/Nylon Mending Yarn (Color 101 / Olive brown)
Hackle - Collin's Hen Hackle (Honeydun variant - Black with dun colored mottling)

Very nice "natural" color combination, Ray, and well executed tying. I notice that this is relatively large (Size #12); what fish species would you be targeting?

I am hoping this fly fishes deep. We'll see, once I get a chance to take it swimming.

Did you take pliers to the hook eye or is it just the photo angle that makes it appear like a ring eye?

I was expecting something from Craigslist. You are correct. This is MUCH better.

Zen/Bill - It must be the angle. The hook is a regular down eye hook.

Ray,
If you want to go deep I would tie it with just a copper wire body and hot orange tying thread (tag and head) for Steelhead.

Slide a tungsten bead ahead of it when you tie it on. Different sized beads for different rates of descent.
