GPP Soft Hackle (Gold-Partridge-Peacock)
Hook - Mustad Model 3906 / Size 6 (yes size six- I like this one big - the bigger hook and slender profile helps this fly fish deep along the bottom of the stream)
Thread - 6/0 UNI-Thread (Black)
Hackle - Hungarian Partridge (Natural)
Underbody - Narrow Mylar Tinsel (Silver)
Abdomen - Kreinik Soie Platte Silk (#2244) - Coated with superglue to make the silk indestructible.
Thorax - Five Strands of Peacock Herl (reinforced in thread dubbing loop)
Head - Tying thread coated with a thin coat of SHHAN clear nail polish

If you can get your hands on any old spools of Soie Platte's silk, the #2516 & #4525 & #4122, also make nice brown variations of this fly.



This is why I like this fly. It has such a nice nymph like appearance when the hackle collapses around the hook shank. Looks like a nice juicy bug (i.e. - trout MRE's).

Hank - No need to go digging a hole. I have a set of your flies sitting right beside my tying desk. Your flies clearly show you know your way around a vice. In fact, when are you going to tye up another set and send them up for me to photograph? Better yet, I'd love to tye with you in Montana.

It's got that letumgo look about it for certain. This arrangement you've used for quite some time and it looks great scaled up. I see you're on the water. I hope you got a couple hits.

Ray, funny you should ask, ... I'm trying to decide what to leave here, I have more materials
than I truly know what they are let alone what to do with them. Most of my confustration
is the different names folks use to name the same stuff. I may want to tie a fly, but, the materials
i have have different names so I hesitate and end up not tying ... , confusing and frustrating
confusturationing to say the least.
I feel like I have an opportunity to dive into the deep end of the brain pool and am looking forward
to several laps... ,

Simply awesome in both scale and construction. A lovely variation on your POP series, Ray.

A great looking fly and nicely tied Ray.
It has many elements that work so well.
The partridge barbs pulsing over the peacock abdomen is an irresistible look in the water.
I like the tag too and may tie your pattern with a gold tag.

Tim - Good idea! Gold would blend nicely with this pattern. Copper may look nice too.
