After reading the book Fly-Tying with Harold Howorth by D.C.Townsend I tie most of my wingless wets with a thorax.

Peute is a French word for: mean and ugly woman. I tied this fly to fish the river Dee in Wales. There is a pretty story about this fly: Henri Bresson got this fly from a gypsy. If you want to read the whole story, I found it in French Fishing Flies by Jean Paul Pequegnot.

Thank you for sharing this pattern. What amazes
me is how you are able to create flies the look as
if they were tied in an earlier time. This one appears
to have it's origins in the Earlier part of the 20th. Century.

I've got that French Fly Fishing book and always wondered why Nick Lyons ever published it. I bet it never sold out. I never finished reading it as it didn't hold my interest.

There are books that you cannot read out to the last page. I had once such a book, other people like it but I fell asleep while reading is. I readed the book French Fishing flies and I like it as a reference book . There are only 500 printed of this book in English. Nick Lyons has nothing to do with it in my opinion???

It says right on one of the front pages (if a book can have more than one) that it was published by Nick Lyons Books. I read somewhere that Lyons would select certain books for publishing, either by him or the previous publisher he worked for. I've bought more than one of the books he selected. This was the only one I didn't care for. Having said that it was a very limited publishing. At one time this book had a sale price on it in the $800 range. One can ask any price, whether they get it is another issue.

Anyways, there's 4 new copies of it for sale for $20 on Amazon right now.

I must be one of those simple minded tyers that need color prints in the books to hold their interest. Now back to the Nemes books in preparation for West Yellowstone in two weeks.

If someone wanted this book I wouldn't let any grass grow under the 4 that are for sale on Amazon.
