Nicely tied and clean shade for a pfennig, might need to go for a swim to build up some patina

If I placed that hair in split thread and wrapped it, the hair would go out in all directions.

Tim,

After the hair is inserted and then thread twisted tight forming a skinny hair brush. All the hair obviously radiates in all directions at this stage.

By stroking back each turn (there will be three, max four turns of 'hackle') the majority of the collar will already have been tamed. Before making the whip finish, pull all collar back to clear the eye, make one or two hard thread wraps to fix hair angle. Next unwrap this wrap/wraps again, followed by a whip finish.

Does that make sense?
