Purple Haze soft hackle

Hook: TMC 2457, #18
Thread: Uni-thread, purple, 8/0
Hackle: black hen
Abdomen: 2 strands each of black, blue, and purple flashabou wound onto hook shank, then coated with Loon UV Clear Fly Finish
Thorax: mix of purple and gray UV Ice Dub

I saw a video of this fly being tied on YouTube and it intrigued me enough to buy the materials and tie up a few. I'm thinking it will be a good attractor, searching pattern. The original recipe calls for a hook shank length tag of Root Beer Krystal Flash off the hook bend, which I forgot to include!

I like this soft hackle version nicely done. I've seen the dry type Purple Haze and tied some of these Purple Haze lighting bug, and some good success with those, but never seen it as a soft hackle version, but will be giving these a try.

Looks really nice Izaak. I would bet they work well on those bright Fall days fishing.
