Hares Ear Enhanced

I did not want to hijack Toms (Izaak) thread.
I have been tying quite a few Baetis nymphs and emergers as of late. Also, I have been trying to master tie2fish's hackle shortening technique. Yesterday morning I mixed some dubbing up for the thorax of my light bodied baetis emergers. It is very close to Izaaks. It is 50% Hares Mask (1/2 natural 1/2 dark Green) and 50% Olive Ice Dub. I was so pleased with the mixture I threw a few Soft Hackles together using the blend. The Partridge skin was already out as was some size 14 hooks. I used the standard way (for me) to attach the feather.

Little Baetis Emerger I have been using. Sizes 20-24

Nice flies, very buggy and caddis-like. Love the color and texture of your dubbing blend.

Best,

Tim

Both patterns look deadly to me. Wayne. I'm pretty sure that little emerger would work very well on a particular spring creek I know of, and the dubbing blend on the nymphs has a definite "come hither" look to it. Nicely done!

That main pattern is very nice. Ditto what tjd says in colour and texture. I would reach for that if the water was a little off colour, the extra sparkle would help in such conditions.
The wee emerger is a sweet tie and would be a nice pattern to present in clear water to sighted fish over here.
Really liking your work. ;)

Wayne,
I second all of the above.
Very cool, as we are used to seeing from your vise.
That little bead-head emerged is a jewel.

DUBBN, Howdy;

Wayne, looks like the smarter fish are going to be signing up for
remedial hook recognition classes ... ;) , 8-) .

Wayne, I can think of lots of occasions where these flies would be well received. I'm looking forward to hearing about you connecting with these on your water.
