Kind of a rough looking tie, but I do like the embroidery yarn as a body material. I think most of it comes in a 4-strand configuration, which is pretty easy to separate. There is a phenomenal range of colors and color mixtures available, it's easy to find, AND, it's cheap!

I thought the hackle was grouse at first. It looks really dark. What can you tell me about it?

Tom, it's from a bag of loose feathers that's not labeled. I just took a second look at them, and they are partridge. I agree, it does look darker than normal, but it may be the lighting also. It was just illuminated by 2 desk lamps. One of these days (maybe tonight) I'll build a soft box. Had one made out of a milk crate and some white cloth, but it got to be a hassle to dig it out of the closet all the time. It eventually came up missing.

Rodger, it's certainly compelling body. I really like the mottling and the hint of shag. I have lots of these patterns around that are a combination of several interesting elements, each material proven in their own way, but brought together out of curiosity.
I vote english grouse shoulder. No harm in taking a guess.

Re: Embroidery 200
I have some wool yarn which is a close match to the body material. I will give this a try.
Nicely done.
