I really like this fly.

I have a general question for you: Do you fish and keep in your flybox all the flies you post, or are many of them just tying to create something a bit different? I guess I am just curious which (if any) you consider 'go-to' patterns.

Heero,

Hmmm... over the past fifteen or so seasons 95%-plus of my fish have been taken on a CDC&Elk.

Eh... what was your question again?

Hans,

That's just a beautiful fly. The colors are striking and the materials, most likely, will give life to the fly in the water. Your ingenuity always amazes me.

The CDC and Elk has been the bane of many local cutthroat as well. Always have a nice selection, of various sizes and colors, in my fly box.

Hans,

This is a brilliant example of design skills. The tail and the tag are not in conflict but in perfect harmony. Beautiful fly.

Not quite. I fish the CDC&Elk dry, damp and wet. Sometimes all three in same drift... 8-)

This one turns me on. Lots of implied action, and the use of the hackle feather is superb.
