Impeccable abdomen.
This is the first time your background has detracted from the fly, even if I didn't realize it at first glance. When I give it a second thought I might be wrong about it altogether.
Yes, I was wrong. It's cool.

Hans, Howdy;
Beautiful fly, I see what dd is refering to. Like when a weatherperson wears
the same color as the background that part of them 'dissapears'.
Question;
As most folks adhear to the 'rule' of body to the point of the barb, or where it
would be on a brabless hook.
How do you determine where that point is on a curved hook such as the one used above ???
Thanks,
hank

*chuckle*
I chose the background color for Flytier's Page for a reason - for the vast majority of patterns and materials used there is no clash with the light-medium blue background I have in place across the images on my web site.
There are always a few exceptions, and this fly with the dyed blue guinea fowl is one of them. Ah well

There are so many different style hooks, and even more patterns to tie on them - I doubt there is a hard rule even for straight shank hooks, let alone the continuous curve hooks.
The short answer might be - I know what I want the pattern to look like, which tells me where to stop
Cheers,

Royal indeed, very nice Hans.
The last Moose shot here by Percy Lyes was in the early 1950's, so mane is thin on the ground! That looks way cool though, almost metalic.

Guinea hen is such a lovely feather. I always enjoy flies that use them as a material. Beautiful work Hans.
