Pale Morning Dun (
Nemes)
Hook - Tiemco 100 Dry Fly Hook (Size 14 or 16)
Tread - 8/0 UNI-Thread (orange)
Hackle - Hen Neck Hackle (Dirty White)
Tail - Zelon (Clear)
Body - Pale yellowy/orange blend of dyed rabbit dubbing
Self Critique - The hackle seems too short, and Mr. Nemes would recommend dubbing in front of the hackle as well. The dubbing blend needs a bit more yellow to start with. The orange tying thread seems to make the orange dubbing show thru a bit more than I had intended.
I'd tye another version, but it is too damned hot. My hands are all sweaty and keeps sticking to my dubbing. Time to go outside and cool off...

Now
there's a little sporangium I could fish nine months a year.
No doubt a great sulphur emerger, as a my dorothea shade toward orange.

Boy, Ray.....3 things. 1. you sure tye that trailing shuck long.....it that on purpose? i mean obviously you didn't do it by accident.....but what's the reason behind that? 2. i was just at Han's site.....have you seen Jim Slattery's PMD Flymph there? & 3. i come "IN the house" to cool off?

Mark - The tailing shuck is intended to be the full length of the hook. My logic is the actual shuck needs to be long enough for the body and part of the tail. The length can be adjusted streamside, to match hatching insects. Plus it will add a bit more movement to the fly. I like Jim's PMD pattern. The tan dubbing is a nice choice. I do not have air conditioning, so I need to go outside to cool down. AC is for rich folks.

That makes a lot of sense.....much easier to snip some off, then try to clue some on........
As hot as it is down here, you'd end up slittin' your wrist if you didn't have AC. Cause you simply can't go outside to cool off..............aint gonna work.

NOTE - This is an old post. I brought it forward because of the current PMD swap.

You know Ray, I like the color of the body. Add a yellow silk rib and you would get your yellow and some segmentation.

Carl - You're right. A yellow silk rib may be just the ticket. I just read the passage Lance posted earlier and I think Nemes pattern is a good fit, especially the trailing shuck. This may be a good trigger for imitating cripples.
EDIT - here is a link to Jim Slattery's PMD Flymph pattern.
