body ..... magpie tail barbs, iridescent black
hackle ... two turns of webby feather, picked up from margin of Indian cock cape, iridescent black
Variant: instead of red wire rib - pearl Flashabou...

Wow, those are especially nice. I've tied with some magpie tail herls and I can appreciate the quality of those. These are both very nice combinations of materials. I think I'm partial to the slenderness of the second pic, but the mass of that first one is going to be a great fly as well.

good idea! Actually, I've some red&green, but... There are some serious snowing here at the time, so light is not so good for taking a picture. What about hackle colour for

Just a quick thought, anything with green an white striping, like a Christmas tree with snow or white garlnad on it... then add in your red & green twords the bend...
just sayin' ...
