"Bug Palmer" (olive)
Hook - Mustad 3906/Size 8
Thread - UTC Ultra Thread (Olive)
Tail - Pheasant Rump Feather Fibers (Natural Rusty Orange)
Body Palmer Hackle - Collen's Rooster Neck (Dark Dun)
Body - Jay Fair's Seal Sub Dubbing (Medium Olive)
Collar - Pheasant Rump Church Window Feather (Olive)
I recently bought several packs of Jay Fair's Seal Sub Dubbing, and had time this morning to play around at the vise. Loving this dubbing as a seal substitute (really nice translucent fibers).
The natural (drab) color combination should work well. Seems like it could be fished wet/damp/or dry (treated with floatant).
Can't wait to go fishing with "Bug Palmer".

Well done Ray !
I like the mix of materials and colors, that fly has movement written all over it

Nice, Ray. Reminds me a bit of the Irish lough Mayflies with the body palmer. I haven't seen Jay Fair's stuff in a while. Used to get packs of their stuff as gifts at the expos out west.

Big fly, big fish.
You are very talented Ray, and your patterns show it.

Ray, I love it!!
But I just had to tie it in a #8 metalhead subbing Olive Hare's Ear + and a Whiting hen hackle.

REE - I got into the Jay Fair’s dyed materials as a result of Denny Richards (Stillwater tyer). I really liked the colors (nice muted nature colors). The seal sub is really nice (translucent and a nice sparkle). Found these at our local Cabelas store.
Good eye. I was copying the loch construction/style.

Ray,
A beautiful pattern that will fool many fish--even the smart ones!
Are you reinforcing that palmered hackle with a tag end of your tying thread?
Thanks- Ken
