Enjoying my new copy of Robert Smith's,
The North Country Fly. I had to tie this fly at first sight.
This is a simple 1930's variation...

Roadkill, that is sweet, it would fit in very nicely with some of the other royal patterns seen here. Is the silk waxed? Just curious because it is vibrant.

I did not wax the silk, and with two layers of thread there is no significant change in color when wet.

Smith's book is beautiful and full of info. I've really enjoyed it too.
I expect you'll be filling some more boxes with the flies he illustrates.

I also was impressed by Rob Smith's video and tied a few RCs. Haven'd fished them but maybe next season.
