Hot Brown & Gray Hackle Peacocks
Brown & Gray Hackle Peacocks have been in my fly boxes for over half a century with many great days of fishing to their credit. After a recent fishing report by my fishing buddy Ken who used a pink hot spot Prince nymph, I decided to explore some other hot peacock wets.

I will be fishing these in 14's & 16's along with some English peacocks from the 18oo's tied with red hackles or thread.
I am curious how well they hold their own when fished with the various hot spot Perdigons.

Really nice. Spiced up versions of some old classics. I'll be giving those a shot during the fall Brookie season.

Very nice looking flies. You can't go wrong with hot spots on a fly.
Re: Hot Brown & Gray Hackle Peacocks
I need to tie more Gray Hackle Peacocks. I forget about the older patterns.
Thanks Bill, I will be using Bright Red thread.
I use to tie it with goose barbules dyed red. Red yarn will have to work for the tail now.
You have been a great source of inspiration, Bill.
Thank you

That hot pink version is such a lovely variant. Pretty in Pink!

Man these "red tags" are always a good choice. One of those flies that if you don't know what else to try, it's a pretty safe bet it'll catch a fish. I like to tie mine with the standard tag of red silk floss over a gold or silver tinsel tag on the hook (whichever shows best on that particular hook color) and the use a Whiting hen hackle dyed fiery craw orange. Looks really sweet.

DUBBN,
It is like one of those One Fly Contest convertible flies. If it isn't working just snip off the tail and keep fishing.

Wayne,
A pretty dog-gone interesting looking pattern! Not only are the colors of interest but the overall body shape (slightly bent it seems) and proportions are right there! Well done friend!

Fish when you can, not when you should! Anything short of this is just a disaster.
