Twice a week I have to be on a zoom conference call for work that's usually about 2.5 hours long. I'm at home for this bit I'm expected to treat it like work. I haven't got up the balls yet to set my camera up on my fly tying bench but I have raised it high enough so you can only see my face and used the time to sort and prep materials and such. Last night I figured I'd try to tie a fly in hand and this is the result. I was shocked at how good it came out. Woodcock hackle, muskrat thorax, ash colored silk and a copper rib. Size 12 nymph hook. I didn't choose these materials for any particular reason, they were just handy. I do quite like how it came out tho. Looks like it could be a jucy little larva or pupa of some kind. Sorry for the crappy photo

Pinchy...I like it! Much more endearing that than what I'm usually called hahaha! I'm a welder/metal fabricator and always max out the finger and grip strength meter during physicals but I was shocked to learn strength has very little to do with it. I did learn a good sticky hard wax is a must. A thicker silk is preferable. The way Stewart tied his spiders makes MUCH more sense now. I got a lot more insight on things I thought I knew. It was a really cool experience.

Stewart probably tied the spiders that way because that's how James Baillie taught him.

My Dad was a welder, and always had an iron grip (and pinhole burns in all his shirts from welding sparks). He could fix anything! Sounds like you are just the same.
