This has been a good wee lure for fishing the water this past few years.
- tailing: JC eyes or GPT & a few blue guinea whisks
- front collars: brahma hen fronted with silver doctor blue guinea

Phenomenal! Great to hear from you again Steve.
I saw this pattern on your website and loved it. I tie a pattern with similar lines/construction. Very seductive action in the water.

Nice one, Steve. That touch of blue really sets it off. Beautiful fly.

That fly is gorgeous! I picked up my first spey rod a while back, a year or so ago, and this pattern looks like a great addition to my new spey flies box. Looking forward to the new book!

Steve,
What R.E.E. said above! And, like Ray mentioned, It's good to see you posting on the forum again! I will drift on over to your web-site and check things out! I haven't been there in a while! Beautiful pattern friend! I really like it!

Thanks for the kind words gentlemen. Good to be with you.
Ray, I really like the looks of the Hairy Carey. I have some very similar crewel & will try it. Looks to be a killing dragonfly simulation; & I'd bet it's a good smallmouth bass fly. Maybe a good sculpin patt for swinging as well.
The Brahma & Blue evolved from the Renegade, which is a very good patt where I fish, wet or dry. Played with variations & it morphed into a trout spey swung-fly. I like it in #6 or #8, but it could just as well be smaller. I tie a version in #10-#12 without the blue, a few GPT whisks for tailing & partridge fore & aft. Good for brookies.

Dubbn, good technique for making lures. I credit the Irish. You see it on a lot of Irish flies, particularly the Bumble designs.
