i remember Bill..... ;) .....
close but no cigar hank.....for two reasons.....1. it's not accurate enough.....the key word was "exactly".....and 2. there's no explantion as to "how" you came to that conclusion. Quoting me won't cut the mustard.....i wanna know your thought process.....but thankx for tryin'.....and as a consolation prize.....you get one more attempt. And remember....."waiting for the inspiration to hit" are your words.....that is not my process. Once i decide to get outta bed.....i'm gonna deal with that bead. :D

Here's something i did over a year ago........it seems.......maybe more, maybe a bit less.........i forget........it's so unimportant.......why remember?
The name of the fly is Planetarium.....it just happened to be the second pic i "saved."
There are three rooster tail feathers in the wing..........light green, yellow, & olive.........normally if your going to go with more than two, you'd kinna automatically just jump to four...........well, there aint nothin' "normal" bout the fly.....so why throw it outta wack......... .....it's another "classic"
example of a fly of mine, that has two completely different looks, depending on which side your looking at..... ;)
did i say i wasn't gonna say click the pic anymore? 8-)

How is by following the time line and thinking about what got this started, ffluterffly's post about the grasshoppers, I back-tracked to FFluterffly's post found my post about "Looks like a job for, da-ta-dahhhhh........ willowhead !" shows as posted at 6:03 pm (w-h time zone 12th/Aug./2011).

So, the next post was by yourself at 10:31 pm. (w-h timezone 12th/Aug./2011), where you said; "here goess.........i had this hook (Alex Hayes light wire), in the vise........one-a-the-vises.........lol..........and had a fly goin' on it........but i was stuck, as to what to do next. The fly had two or three of the elements (parts of the recipe), finished already and i just didn't exactly know where i was gonna go next.........well, it's finished. i call it, The Ass-Backwards Grasshopper From Mars. And your gonna need one hell of an imagination.......rotmfflmaffao."

Your next paragraph was;
"It wasn't until hank went postal, that i got the idea as to how to finish the fly.........thankx hank..........some strange ****......... .......go figure."

So, that said, I don’t know exactly when you read it or how long it took you to finish it. Exactly when (which stage or where in the tying process), was by the clock ...somewhere around 7:00 pm w-h timezone. during the process ... placement of the bead (which direction faces which way), where the spots go.

B…… Final answer

hank.....you get an A+ for effort. But the prize is still there for the taking, to the first person who call tell me "EXACTLY" where i was, when i hadda give it a rest, before i could continue, and "how/why" they were able to figure that out. ;)
for anyone confused as to which fly this refers.....it's the Ass-Backwards Hopper From Mars. 8-)

hank, you better just let it go.....the thread is getting to strung out.....just let it go. For all others, what i'm asking is, how far had the dressing gone..... at "exactly" what point in the dressing had i come to a quandry as to what to do next? And no guesses.....you MUST be able to EXPLAIN how you were able to figure that out. Then, the fly is yous. ;)

Just got the Paul Rossman DVD..........it's actually a PDF formatt of his book, the first in what should be many volumes. Simply put, it is UNBELIEVEABLE.....which, is exactly what one should expect of Paul. It also contains many pics of his paintings, which i had never seen before. Incredable stuff......only goes to re-affirm his stature as a very gifted artisted. The thought process is the thing.....all the how's, whys, and the wherefor art thows along the trail that leads from place to place.............the journey itself. Making a significant contribution just getting from point A to point B.
For anyone interested in fly tying AND art..........if you snooze, you looze. Case Closed. 8-)

Mark, when i'm able to purchase the book (it's not out yet), you can have my copy of the DVD. ;)

Here's a fly i tyed over two years ago.....and for whatever reason it just happened to be the one i took to the tatoo shop the other day for the guy to wht he could do with................lotta fun actually.............he didn't exactly replicate it...........but it's his rendition of somethin' he saw in his own eye, and i soe he did his best.........i don't mind how it came out.........we had a good time wheile he was doin' it.............lotta laughs. Got to be a bit painful, not the tatooing, by keeping my arm in that position while he was working.................
apparently one turn of the damn ribbing needs to be knocked back in position..........i hadn't noticed that until now. scroll..... ;)
OH! i meant to take the dang fly out of the cork and put it in a clip or a vise so you could see the hook point/barb area better..........( forgot), it's a Ronn Lucas Nobel D 5/0 .......gorgeous hook, that has one of his very special color coatings to it........it's a really cool mosey green speckled finish..... 8-)

it's ok for $100.............he could of done a whole hell of a lot better...........well, maybe "he" couldn't of.........who knows........aint no biggie. Just another somethin' for conversation.........people like that ****.
Dave Liebman (saxophonist) once asked Miles why he even had a saxophone in the band. At that time Dave WAS that sax player, and he actually felt unessessary to the band with reason. Miles told him, the people like to watch you move your fingers real fast............. :D ................ 8-)
