Fabulous fly, Mark. I can "SEE" the waterfall. The bead appears to be a rock in the stream, and the tail is the watery splash of foam...beautifully creative fly.

Beautiful Mark. You have captured the idea perfectly. I know the wing represents the rainbow but it reminds me of the rushing water cascading over the rocks of the Canadian Shield. Water has a fabulous way of picking up colours from anything around it. It is the trick to creating a realistic impression of water.

Here's a painting this reminds me of. While often considered a member of the Group of Seven, Tom Thomson actually died mysteriously on Canoe Lake in Algonquin Park just before the group was officially formed. I have seen this picture in person and the colours in this link do not begin to do it justice. The colour in the water is reminiscent of the colours in the wing of Mark's fly and there are some great splashes of turquoise in the water, the rocks and trees. Thanks Mark for a beautiful reminder of beautiful places.

Thank you again Vicki for bring us anther incredable work of art by way of a link............please feel free to do as you will, always, as a contributor to this thread. To tell you the truth.........the wing in this dressing is sposed to represent the water over the falls.......and the color in the wing (i used Sharpies to color all those feathers), is what represent the rainbow or simply the color the would be reflected back from the water as it flowed over the falls. So just like Ray, you nailed it as well. i'm so happy ya'll can "See It." :) And thank YOU for a beautiful reminder..... ;)

This fly will remain as one of the most memorable pieces of impressionistic art in my mental data bank.

Today's fly is something i did for my wife a couple months ago.....round early May.........Spring and all don't you know. :D And BOY did it work the magic! LOVE that girl..... :P i call it Usagi..........Misa is born in the year of the Rabbitt..........Usagi means Rabbitt in Japanese.....and since Rabbitts don't have much of a tail.....and Misako looks SOOO cute in Pink. 8-)
You'll have to use your imagination just a bit. There are four GP Crest on each side of the fly. The bottom two, criss-cross underneath the body and the top two criss-cross on top. Well, i guess the near side top creast fell quite and bit when she was handling the fly and the far side crest fell to a degree as well.....i can still just barely see it. It's a VERY simple fix.....but i'm not going to ask Misa to have to redo the pics.....she doesn't have that kind of time to spare. She's a day-trader don't you know. :D
So, use your imagination. In "the book" it'll be just right. ;) Again, this one is on an Alex Hayes hook which i painted. Forget where i found this bead. click the pic for best results.....
