You've been busy! Those are all spectacularly exquisite. I especially like the PT.
I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

The herl head on that pet is simply otherworldly.

Thank U for the kind words gents.
Carl that PT isnt PT. It's an r&d product from Whiting farms, Grizz rooster tail feathers, same feathers were used on the orange spiders corded up with the tah, it's an interesting material. Much tougher than PT...

Your flies are awesome!!
John
The fly Carl mentioned as a PT, the body wasn't tied using the conventional pheasant tail barbs. Instead I used some feathers that I received for research and development from Whiting farms, some barbs off a Grizzly rooster tail feather handled in the same way one would when tying a pheasant tail.
The photo above this fly (purple Pearsall's) and below (orange pearsall's) I layed a smooth foundation of silk from front to tail, leaving a long tag of pearsals. I then tied in a few of the rooster tail barbs by their tips (like you would when tying a PT nymph) next to the tag, grabbed both the tag material and rooster barbs with my hackle pliers and spun them to create a tight cord. The cord was then wrapped forward in open spirals almost like a rib, allowing the layer of silk underneath to show.
I hope that's clearer, if I was at home I would have taken a photo of the grizzly rooster tail feathers for you...
Cheers
Karsten
