Those look really great roadkill, youve saved me tying the recipes.
I have a list of Turton's wingless patterns, amended for modern or more
available materials on my web-site :-
http://donaldnicolson.webplus.net/page472.html

I have not been able to dress any yet, this was one I had in mind.
Three excellent examples.

Roadkill,
Do you mind if I use your pictures on my web-site to illustrate this pattern,
I will give you full credit for the dressing, I do not claim copyright on my site
for any pictures dressed by myself, and I have not used anyone else's pictures before.

"The Anglers's Manual" by John Turton (1836)
There are over a 100 print on demand copies on ABbooks at very cheap prices,
and a first edition at $500.00.
As there are not any illustrations apart from an ornate head picture,
the print-on-demands are good value.
Or you can download a free PDF from the Internet Archive :

Beautiful flies! I've never quite understood the purple thing though. Has anyone fished the purple? I don't even have purple here I'll have to find some.

Vicki, purple WORKS! ;) One of the BEST flies there is, on the Steelie tribs. upstate N.Y., is a purple Stonefly nymph. Go figure :D
