Here is my version of Ron Eagle Elk's variation of the Wilted Spinach.



Here is an original wilted spinach, tied with Hareline STS dubbing in golden stone. As soon as I saw the dubbing, I thought it looked kind of orangish for a golden stone, then thought it looked just right for a wilted spinach or October caddis.



I took both of these photos outdoors in a light diffuser box; I have no idea why the focus is so poor. I guess I just suck as a photographer.

The hackle on the cabbage is a dark dun hackle from Conranch. Nice stuff to work with; I wish my photo did it justice.

Love that purple variation John. Will definitely have to try some of those.

I too have been working on 'the cabbage.' Seems like a nice blend of traditional flymphing and synthetic flash. My bodies are thread instead of dubbing, but after seeing your flies I think I try those out as well.
