3-Speed
Still playing with abdomen and thorax in the same loop on the block. This one came out too short, So I added a couple more hackle to shorten the head. Head still came out rather large.

Roger - This is a terrific pattern. I'm admiring the proportions. I love the plump taper of the body and head. This one really "rings the dinner bell". Beautifully tyed and photographed, but that is to be expected. 
Oh, and the combined hackle is VERY attractive! I gotta give this a go.

Very "dinner gong" looking, great choice of materials and colours.
Wonder if there is a way you could attach the pre-formed body from the front and wrap it back with a tie off at the bend aka Tenkara kind of tying style. The tie off could become a hot spot or egg sack kind of addition. That way the thorax wouldn't come up short.
Just a thought.
Your solution is a good one, my only worry is the extra hackle "taking over" the sweet looking body as it falls back along the hook shank in the water.

Nice one, Rodger. This could be my "one-fly" "go-to" pattern. Don't fall head over heels for the swimmy hooks, completely. You've got a lot more of these to put together. Love the thorax/abdomen brush.
