Polish Partridge and Hare Variations

Post by Roadkill » Sun Dec 03, 2023 5:49 pm

I picked up a few patterns in a fly shop in Krakow Poland about 2 months ago. SKLEP WEDKARSKI has a nice collection of flies in a beautiful old wood cabinet kind of like a map cabinet with shallow drawers and wooded slats dividing the space about 4 inches apart to hold different flies. There are no names or sizes, you just pick what you like!

Here is my variation of a Hot Spot Hare and Partridge Soft Hackle...
Hook-Wholesale Fly Company Model 28 #8 (original tied on a similar size up eyed hook)
Thread- UTC 70 Black
Rib-SM Gold Ultra Wire
Body- Ginger Hares Ear
Thorax-Spirit River Lite Brite Peach
Hackle- Grey Partridge

Excellent, I especially like the partridge and hare variation.

I especially love the color transition in the body of the first fly. Subtle perfection.

It is great to see you posting again. Welcome back Bill.

Thanks everyone, but the credit goes to the fly tyers in Poland for creating these 8-) flies!

That hot spot and hare is a great looking pattern! The scud style hook just cranks it up.
I sold all my survey stuff when I retired and still kicking myself for not keeping the
old oak flat map files I had. What a great way to repurpose!

Outstanding, Mr. Bill. I keep going back and forth between the two, but in the end... I've stolen both of them. Thank you.
