A fishing buddy who got me into Tenkara sent me a photo of his version of this fly last week. I looked it up on the https://dragontailtenkara.com/ site.
My variation is a #8 Scud hook tied with FL Chartreuse thread , Purple and Amber Gold Merino Wool Dubbing blended with Rainbow Antron, and a Sharp Tail Grouse Kebari Hackle. I think this will make a nice steelhead fly!

Me too. And a nice case building caddis imitation.
Can you post a picture of the yarns used in the dubbing blend?

Ray here is the Glitzy Merino Wool with Rainbow Trilobal Nylon blend, not exactly a yarn...

The dubbing I made was posted in my Glitzy Gold Caddis post.viewtopic.php?f=6&t=9108
It also shows a picture of the Gold Skein with a ruler for scale.
The Yellow dubbing was used in my Glitzy Pink Lady. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=9110
The Aubergine Purple is also the thorax on my Blue Dun Emerger. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=9104

Re: Grave Digger variation
Thank you Bill, for posting the picture. Very helpful. Glad I asked. I was imagining some sort of wool yarn. Looks like nice stuff.
