There's something to this....
I don't know if any of you are familiar with this book. Well I have had it in my possession for about 20 years and use it at times to select what fly to use.
Many times especially when there are no flowers in bloom like in mid January I'll base my fly on the colors along the stream. Many small streams have lot's of green plants in various shades. And so I have been fishing this fly with very good success.

Re: There's something to this....
Alan,
I do not have that book, but love the inspiration. I love the trillium on the cover of the book. One of my Father's favorite flowers. We would often see them popping up in the woods, as we hiked into our favorite fishing spots in the Adirondack Mountains.
I am an avid photographer, and frequently stop during my fishing trips to capture images of flora/fauna long the way. Seeing your post reminds me of those happy occasions, and of warmer days to come.
Beautiful fly...

Ray, I love taking pictures. On an outing I'll take a max of two fish pictures the rest are of the landscape the forest, the stream and anything else that catches my eye.
I'd love to post some on FF but if you would tell me which forum heading to use I will do it.

Fish when you can, not when you should! Anything short of this is just a disaster.

It's a great little book. There definitely seems to be a correlation between hatches and flower blooms.
