Gingerbread
Since it's the holiday season, one of the things I like best is when my wife bakes soft gingerbread cookies. Stick with me here for a second.
As I was tying today, I just threw this all together and it just said Gingerbread to me. Then again, it may also say Broccoli. YUCH.

Very nice Kilts.
Re: Gingerbread
Dearest Kilts,
I like this pattern! I also like gingerbread cookies and all their cousins! You have hackled these beauties with those rare and wonderful dark partridge feathers (correct me if I'm wrong but it sure looks like it!). The tailing is unusual too! I like it! The whole pattern says light!
Please, please keep creating! Yours are amazing!

Fish when you can, not when you should! Anything short of this is just a disaster.

Re: Gingerbread
Thanks friends!
As for the tail. Well to be honest, I tied a fly earlier this year, and some of the members here kind of questioned using biots for a tail. Let me tell you now, that fly I tied and fished this past summer has done very well for me. In fact, it has made me a firm believer in soft hackled flies. So why not use biots again for this fly. I think it looks grand. But if it doesn't do as well as I hope it does, I may change the tail.
I also figure with all the sparkle it has on it, using it on a bright day it should really show itself.
I never thought of it that way, probably because I don't think that way. So a golden stone imitation it is then.
You are correct on the hackle Dougsden. After I tied a few I had to ask myself; why did I use this hackle instead of something more of a brown? I still don't know why. But I do like the contrast of it because the hackle sort of sticks out a bit. I'm hoping the fish will take notice of it this year.DOUGSDEN wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 8:59 am Dearest Kilts,
