Hen pheasant flymph

I was given a hen skin last week and the feathers were beautiful so I wanted to try a feather out as soon as the skin cured. I changed out my thread after the tail for some Hend quill olive and I was hoping it would show through the dubbing a little better. Next time I’ll go lighter with the dubbing .

Well done, indeed!
You may want to wet this fly, to see if the Hends becomes more visible. Sometimes a wet fly body becomes more translucent. Worth checking, before making adjustments.

Nice fly! You could also just leave a long tag end and use it to rib the dubbing. If the under thread shows when wet you will have 2 tones of olive.

Nice looking fly! I bet it looks great when wet. The fish will second that.
