Did these awhile back. Really liked the hackles.

They certainly are beautifully "buggy". And I like that hackle too.

Very nice! Can you please post the detailed recipe? Definitely worth saving & tye up a batch of these.
PS - Where did you get the hackle? Cree hackle is hard to come by.

The dressing was:
Hook: Daiichi 1550 or 1530 (I think those were size 16)
Thread: Danville 6/0 Orange
Body: Hare's Ear Natural Dubbing
Rib: Xtra Small gold wire
Hackle & Tail: Cree Hen
I bought the hen skin from Dave Roberts at The Feather Emporium several years ago but I wouldn't be suprised if he still had more on hand.
As an added note, although I'm probably not correct in naming this dressing as a flymph. When I dress a fly using 2 or 3 hackle turns near the hook eye, I call it a soft hackle or, if appropriate, a North Country Spider If I make 5+ hen / game hackle turns starting at the hook eye and hackled backwards, I refer to that dressing as a flymph (for my own, probably incorrect reference).

Those are really nice. Cree makes a great hackle for hare patterns. I use it a lot in searching patterns. I like the darker/swollen thorax that it mimics. I like Feather Emporium. Dave has always treated me well.

Found an old pic of the whole skin. Gotta check if I still have it as I might have sold it awhile back.

That hackle is one of my favorites. I love the look of a more nuanced shift in tones and the thorax really looks amazing with the list if this hackle. That's a beautiful set.
