Hi all,
I tied this fly yesterday in hopes of getting to fish but the rain is relentless. Of course, it rains every time I plan on exploring and fishing. I only have three weeks left before I head back and hope to at least get one day of fishing in. Interestingly, I saw Steve's post on his simple and sparse fly this morning and could not help but notice the similarities. Good tie Steve!
Hook: Orientsun #16
Thread: Pearsall's brown silk (waxed)
Hackle: Partridge
Counter wrap: Oval tinsel

Yourvthread control on that fly is perfect. It makes the pattern pop.
Great photography as well.

Domo Arigato, Otto-San! It is great to see your wonderful tying and photography skills again. I hope the rains let up and you get a chance to fish with this beauty in your remaining days in Japan.
I hope you stocked up on those beautiful hooks and will be able to bring some home. Lovely!
Safe travels my friend.

Hi Ray,
I have 2 weeks left and it is not looking promising to fish but I have visited many fly shops and have learned a few interesting tying techniques. It would be nice to consider having some Zoom meetings again.
Take care,
Otto

Hey Otto...thanks for the compliment of imitation...for me its sometimes difficult to drum up inspiration for new ties , so ill spin up a few of these workhorse patterns and slowly the creative juices start to emerge
...hope you get to present your tie and fish during your stay
Steve

For some reason when I saw this fly I instantly thought to myself, chocolately goodness. I must be hungry.
Your tinsel wrap spacing is superb. You have great control of your materials.
I have lots of Pearsall's brown silk and all the other materials to tie this pattern. It looks like a must fly to try out.
Thank you for sharing it.

I really like that name chocolatey goodness. Perhaps they're a few sweet tooth trout out there. I don't have a lot of materials but it is fun creating flies with what you have.
