Yesterday, I managed to fish a tailwater river in Tennessee with a good friend of mine. It was rainy and in the low 40's and did well swinging a #16 BWO. Here are two pictures of the fly

That is a beautiful fly that i will be tying soon!! What is the hackle?

This pattern is down right gorgeous! Was it tied in response to what you saw coming up (matching the hatch) or is it a cool pattern that you tied previously? I ask this because there seems to be as many BWO imitations as there are grains of sand! I think this is a testament to the insects widespread distribution and widespread appeal to both fish and fishermen! What are your thoughts?

Recipe:
Hook: Dohiku 302 #16
Thread: UTC 70 denier – olive
Tail: Coq de Leon
Wire: UTC Ultra Wire – small olive
Thorax: Mole dubbing – natural
Hackle: Starling
Clear coat – Solarez bone dry

Thanks for the compliments and this is a pattern that I used before minus the Solarez bone dry resin. I use a very tiny amount just to coat the thread and wire but not fill the gaps between the wire passes. I hope this makes sense. Honestly, it probably does not make a difference but it goes give it an interesting sheen.

Pattern is very nicely done. Shows you how deceiving colors can be. Body looks very dark to me; I would have said black. Olive would not have been my 1st guess on color of wire rib either. I was also wrong on the mole thorax. I did manage 1 correct--on Starling hackle! Thanks for sharing the actual list of materials.

the color disparity is probably the result of both the Solarez, which tends to darken threads and not the best camera. I am just using my cell phone
