That looks like it would do the business on our local Sea Run Cutthroat. I'll have to dress a couple as the runs will soon be starting in earnest.
That Rabbit Matuka is a lovely fly as well, but, I must admit that my favorite NZ fly is the Scotch Poacher. Must be tied with a Pukeko wing to be effective though.
Is that an Alcock vise?
Do we know each other from another board by any chance?

Ron, we quite possibly do meet on other forums, I belong to a couple with the same screen name.
I prefer the Craigs Nightime to the Scotch Poacher, slightly more subdued in colour and our local browns seem to prefer that. You can sub Pukeko for the black breast feathers of Silver Pheasant, they give much the same action, but not the same colour....... not many birds in the world will!
