Royal Charlie (Nathaniel Hunt)

Post by joaniebo » Thu Oct 21, 2021 5:27 pm

I have no idea where I saw the original dressing but I tied these back in 2015 according to the date info for the pic . Also don't know where I stashed those that I tied....or gave them away, probably.

Those look fantastic........!
Having seen them previously in the North Country Fly, I have often thought about tying some and fishing them for autumn (fall!) grayling on my local stream.

I did a post on this fly back in August. I have fished it several times and have found it worthy of a slot in my fly box.

You guys are fantastic! What a great looking pattern from both of you! The peacock "finishing collar" right behind the head of the fly is so crazy attractive especially on this pattern! From what I remember, this style of tying (the peacock collar) was commonly used on English fly patterns around the turn of the century! Unfortunately, we don't see it much in use today!
