What is everyone's opinion on a floating fly line where the tip won't sink after an hour of fishing.....

Odd. I can't think of a reason why a fly line would change behavior like that. Not something I've ever experienced before.

Out of curiosity, what make/size fly line are you referring to?

Does the line behave the same after cleaning? Could something be accumulating on the outside of the line, which is changing it's density or causing it to have a harder time breaking thru the surface film?

You may want to put some UV resin on the tip. Sounds like water is wicking up the core. If it is a welded loop, then I have no idea, unless the line is cracked.

Ok guys, maybe i didn't write that correctly lol. Pretty much every fly line I have, from cortland to orvis, the tips start to sink after an hour of fishing. I've sealed the ends w/ a dab of silicone or uv glue. Made no difference.....

What fly line will stay afloat???

My underlines.

Sorry, but I don't understand the question. You are asking why something designed to float ... floats?

Some waters are just dirty with suspended clay, algae, etc.. I keep a line dressing kit in my fly vests. If the line isn't cracked or the floating spheres worn down a couple of minutes cleaning the line in the field can put you back in the water. Worst case scenario, I usually have another floating line on a spare spool, ;)
