No, they work anytime Caddis are present. I should say when trout are keying on Caddis.

I saw a video last year, I think it was a "tightlinevideo" for a soft hackled OC, so I had to order the materials to tie a few. Now have enough to probably tie a 100+ of these:

A year or 2 ago I ran across an article on Global Flyfisher it was written by Peter Frailey dealt
with "Baby Buggers".
