For any of you that have them, do you feel that Oliver Edwards' "Wet Fly Fishing on Rivers" at $40 or Davy Wotton's "Wet Fly Ways" at $25 are good value for the money?

IMHO, the Davy Wotton video is the better value; it's not so much the difference in the content as it is the disparity in costs. He (Wotton) also demonstrates a wider range of techniques as they apply to different types of water... more bang for the buck so to speak. I do enjoy all of Edwards' DVDs, however, when I can borrow them from friends ;) .

I have spoken, often, to Davy Wotton online. He is extremely observant and he knows his stuff. I have his video Wet-Fly Ways. It was given to me as a Christmas present last year. It is very good, and I like a lot of Davy's techniques for wet fly fishing, and this video is very thorough. I have not seen Oliver Edwards video, but I get the impression from clips I've seen he is strictly an upstream man. This is not the case with Davy.

Go with Davy!

Mostly, yes. He also uses what he calls "the escalator method" for downstream fishing.

And here is an early video of him tying the Waterhen Bloa.

i've had the chance to see Oliver tye a few times at Somerset.........been a few years since the last time. Tkx. for the link DD. That was very enjoyable. Btw, i found my Mole skns.....lol. Those exact feathers he uses to hackle the Waterhen Bloa appear to have stiffer fibers than a feather from another part of the bird might have. That was good to observe....... ;)

Guys,
I have tried to purchase Davy Wottons DVD. I had thought that I had accomplished that but to date it has not appeared in my post box.
The only place that it is available for sale is in the States.
Would anyone be willing to purchase it privately and then send it to me? Of course I would recompense costs etc.

Just a couple days ago I decided to stock it. I should have it and Oliver Edwards Wet Fly Fishing in Rivers in a few days. I'd be happy to send you one. I'll send you a PM with the details.

Your really gonna enjoy fishing with Davy Chris. He's VERY exacting......wouldn't mind bein' a fly in the boat (with ears like mine :D ) when you show up with three Tenkara rods. THAT'S gonna be a RIOT!!!!! Have you booked with him yet? You'd better square that away............he's the busiest guide on the river, and with allllllllllll the tyers and others in town for Sowbug.......nuff said? Not to mention he usually tyes part of the time during the "bug." You should try and set it up for before or after the show actually. ;) Oh, and depending on where he takes you........you may wanna think in terms of heavier than normal tippet.

Both are excellent. Of course Davy is "our" local boy and the DVD is very interesting, educational and easy to follow. I agree Edwards is an Upstream man and Davy could care less. He shows that the correct cast for the correct situation should be used. I have watched Edwards on YouTube extensively and think the quality of his video is top drawer. My version of Wet Fly by Davy seems to be washed out and at times I have trouble understanding him. But for my money it's Davy all the way!! He is on my list of people I admire in the fly fishing world and would love to meet. Get the Wotton vid first, save and then, if need be, go for the Edwards.
