Which flymphs or spiders do you find most productive on stillwaters for trout? I'm using a callibaetis colored fly with partridge for the hackle and a soft-hackle hare's ear. Any others for you?

I use my "Crunchy Damsel" on almost every stillwater outing...It rarely lets me down:

Pattern here... along with a few very helpful suggestions

I was fishing to rising fish with this pattern the Sunday before last, and managed a half dozen to hand before the fish returned to depth. It works very well around the margins of exposed weed beds. The ginger colour here is supposed to imitate the immature "fresh molt" damsel nymph.

Gorgeous fly. I bet it is a killer when the damsels start moving.

Beautiful fly Aaron.

I don't really stillwater fish for trout but I really like this simple one for bass.

Good old Carey Special.

Thanks Mark. There is a beauty in the simplicity. I think that's why it works so well.
