Thats a good location Hank. I use to just pitch a tent along the banks of Navajo Reservoir.
End of September I dont think you will need a reservation. If you like gambling theres Sky Ute casino in Ignacio Colorado. Lots of parking in that area, from Farmington, NM to Ignacio Colorado, and all points in between.

Just talked to a nice young lady at the campground,
said that things are normally slowed down enough that
reservations shouldn't be necessary. We'll see what's going
on later this summer.

This is bit like Charles Dickens Tale of Two Cities.

Little rain on Saturday, NO NO NO rain yesterday,,,, and Otter surmised, another 4 or 5 dryish days and I could be fishing next week.

Looked outside this AM and groaned



I have not fished for Atlantic Salmon or sea Trout for about 5 years. All going well I will be heading west on friday to the river Moy, to my roots and will get a half day somewhere. Dug out my fly boxes last night , I had almost forgotten what salmon flys looked like, Jeeez, the size 8's and 10's look enormous compared to my trout flies.

Saw a map on the Weather Channel that indicates just about 2/3 of the US is officially in a severe drought condition -- that is an enormous area and really scary in several ways.

I do not know what it is about this year but everything I plan gets usurped by one thing or another. One of my kids just got a hospital appointment for friday evening so more important stuff takes precedent as it should. C'est la vie.

At last , the river is back to normal levels, though the rain is still with us , it has lessened some what. Managed three evenings in the last week and though the evening caddis activity was shortlived and with few of the better trout taking part it was great to participate even for twenty minutes or so in the dusk rise. Six prime weeks have been all but wiped of this season and its quite a shock to the system..... but heh, god willing, theres still a few seasons left in this old dog
