Well, now, as a newbie myself, having had the Soft Hackle Epiphany about 2 years ago, and who fishes the Frying Pan and Roaring Fork once a year, I gotta ask, what’s in the Colorado Six Pack?

I hope I don't get banned for this, but this is what you get, but sometimes it varies . . . slightly.

The Delaware Adams. Quite possibly the greatest dry fly in the world in my opinion, because it caught me over 100 fish in a day.


Of course the PT Nymph


Ants. You can''t fish Colo. without an ant. I also do a soft hackled version of this ant.


I call this a Honey Badger. Sort of a rip off from the Prince nymph, but it's a wet fly version.


The Renegade. This fly is a must on the small creeks. It probably out performs any other dry fly on the North St. Vrain in the Wild Basin.


The RS-2. Great trailing a nymph or a wet.


That is pretty much it, though like I said, it can change with a pattern or two. What brought it on was I have a friend who likes to ride his mountain bike on the trails and take his 3wt rod and stop at times to fish little creeks he comes across. So he asked me if I could tie up some of my favorite flies and put them in a small box that he could put in his shirt pocket. The 6 pack was born.
