Last sunday we were on the edge of a big lake hhere in holland: IJsselmeer and caught quite a lot of little "Ide". The trick was to figure of eight quite fast. I fished with a #5 and with two flies. The point was a black fly but most of the fish came on the red-tag spider.
We had a very nice afternoon.

Re: Ide
That looks like a relaxing way to spend an afternoon, Ruard, and I can see why the fish were attacted to your red-tag spider ... it is very "fishy" looking.

Ruard, Howdy;
Looks like you were having fun. Has it started to cool off there.
I felt the need to look for your lake on Google earth. It is indeed large, and being as it has a connection to the sea
might even be called a Bay here in the States or Baai in Holland. Was the water salty where you were fishing?
As Ray said, it is good to hear from you again...

If you look on google earth perhaps you can see there is a dike in the north of the IJsselmeer. North of the dike the water is salt and south of it, where we have fished, there it is frsh water not salt.

Ok, I saw it and it did not make itself evident.
That is a huge Lake.
