Does anyone have a source for Bullock's hair?

I tried Google, and this is what came up:

Admittedly, nice, but not especially helpful. I'm looking for black, but blackish-brown would be fine.

Happy to trade for some if you have any to spare.

Thanks,
bb

Some archaic salmon patterns from Scrope--his "Toppy" and "Meg in Her Maws."

They have a flymphish quality to them--rough. I've never seen Bullock's hair before--could you post a picture? How like/unlike seal of pig's wool is it? I'd like to tie these true to the original materials, but I'm not unwilling to pull a ruse.

Cow hair is softer than seal but stiffer than mohair. I probably have most if not all of those materials. The problem is that they are in the garage and winter is at its worst.

Thanks for the photograph, this stuff looks great--just the right color and texture. I wonder why it's not used more often? It would seem to be great for stoneflies also.

A cold winter is always good for insect control, lol.

Stay warm!

John Younger, another Tweed fisherman, was also a fan of using cow hair. In fact he accused Scrope of stealing his fly patterns. Cutcliffe mentions several flies that use cow hair. On a trip to to Devon, Skues encountered flies tied with cow hair. One of his BWO nymph patterns is tied with cow’s hair the color of dried blood.

Bill - Do you sell the cow dubbing? If so, I’d be interested.

I kept wondering if this hair was down around the scrote as in tups indispensible.
