Dana showed me a dubbing rake he made out of an old paint brush handle, and the cutter blade from an empty roll of packing tape.

A friend used to make them out of pieces of hacksaw blades. Using various TPI (Teeth Per Inch) determined how much guard hair you got in the mix. He just cut a slot in a dowel, glued in the hacksaw blade section and he was done. They worked very well.
