Does anyone know of a source of a full Melanistic Pheasant skin? I've never seen the full skins available from a fly tying supplier. Wondering if anyone here knows where to buy one.
Thank you, in advance, for any help you can provide.

I bought a full skin way back in 2010 and had it stolen at a show while I was away from my table. Bought it from Dennis and Jamie Dahlke in Spokane, WA, (509)467-6900,
[email protected]. Not sure if they are still in business, but it would be worth a phone call to find out. As an aside, that stolen skin cost me $20 back in 2010. I've given thought to raising some, chicks and eggs are available.

Thanks Ron. I appreciate your help.
Im sad to hear about your stolen skin. Hard to fathom someone would stoop so low.

Thanks Bill. Cookshill may also have a waiting list (good thing).

I follow Cookshill on FB. Steve posts pictures when he has them. From now to January seems to be when he has them. The last one was listed for £25 in November 2022.

From past experience, those skins appear to be more of a piebald pheasant, not a true melanistic. I guess it depends on the feathers you're looking for.

It looks like a melanistic skin to me. Piebalds are more tan/ginger in my experience.

Here is a piebald. Nice with only a few applications.
