would this dessicant stuff dry out the naturals oils in capes and saddles and other feathers making them brittle?
Flytiers sure have a way at making things difficult

I doubt it. Desiccants tend to be hygroscopic (attracting molecules of water vapor) versus natural oils (liquid/solid phase).
