I know very little about older hooks and I was looking for some help with the hook pictured below. I purchased these
Ray Bergman hooks a week ago with the hopes that I could tie some Bergman dry flies with these hooks but the shank appears long although the box reads shank regular. Is anyone familiar with this hook and if so what flies would usually be tied on this hook. Thanks in advance for any advice.
Pat

Re: Hook advice needed !
Ok
Every hook brand is different, and with the Ray Bergman BLUE LABEL Nyack hooks, regular shank means standard wire, standard length, FOR THAT MODEL(blue label). The BLUE LABEL Bergmans are better for nymphs or large dry flies, not wets.
Ray Bergman wet flies go very well on the following:
Mustad 3399, 3399A, 3399D, 1921, 1928 and 3116.
Allcocks 1810, W205, W210, and W212.
Sizes for all of the above are #6-#16 , depending on pattern, water conditions etc.
Good luck !!
