Very much an oldie from later 1800's Great Britain. I've tied this as a streamer more than a wee wet, but what is size at the end of the day....

Really nice tie, Johnno. I seem to remember a story that this pattern was so effective that it was outlawed on some waters, but I can't remember where this supposedly took place.

One of my favorites. I love this pattern, but have never been able to tye it as well as your example. Superbly done.

I think the fly was always intended to be a "fry" pattern, so whether it's tied on a long shank hook or a standard length, it's a streamer either way.Johnno wrote: I've tied this as a streamer more than a wee wet, but what is size at the end of the day....

I was wondering when this venerable pattern would "come around" the forum? I am glad you brought it to us! Your tying is exquisite and the proportions are spot on! It is a beauty and this gets my streamer juices flowing!
