Intentional bad hair day at the vise yesterday
Bit of a bitsa to tempt a wee troot. Gary Lafontaine sparkle emerger butt hangin off an Al Troth caddis wing with a paraloop hackle and a Jinglerish soft hackle at the nose
Butt looks pretty juicy when wet...
12 Partridge 15BNY klinkhamer
Nanosilk 50D white
Semperfli predator fiber in silver for the shroud/veil
Semperfli SF green dub
Short dun CDC underwing
Elk hair oberwing
Whitings grizzly paraloop
Hares ear thorax
Mottled hen soft hackle collar

I've sat here for a solid ten minutes studying the photos in complete admiration. I'm gobsmacked mate! Brilliant combination and beautifully executed.
It's great to see you back at the vice (and camera) again.
Are you preparing for a fishing trip?

Thanks Ray, good to hear from u as always mate
I haven't been tying much lately, just the occasional fly of an evening atm. I'm glad you like the fly, a bit of a bitsa but I think it should fish well. My idea was to tie something when the trout are feeding on potatoes aka caddis. If they're tough on adult imitations I wanted to give em something that's a bit of a hybrid between a dry and a wet. The fly rides well in the water adding desiccant to the soft hackle, hackle and wing only. Just theories at this point but time will tell.
No fishing at the moment either, I've nearly finished our renovation but sadly it's nearly finished me
Both my arms and my casting shoulder are in a bad way so I'm going to have to adjust my expectations. It'll be short casts on short light rods on small streams if I can. Better than not getting out there. I hope u've been well mate...

Good stuff as usual, Karsten. That caddis is brilliant in concept, but -- alas -- so technically difficult that few will be able to replicate it. You will just have to tie a dozen for each of us ... .
