Never have been good at tying Medallion Sheeting (or Swiss Straw) wings as on the original, so I subbed Congo Hair (got that tip off John Newberry's site). Tied as a flav; change colors to suit your needs

hook - Dai Riki 280 #16
thread - Danville 6/0 pale olive
shuck - Congo Hair brown
rib - Sexi floss (split strand in half)
body - Uni-stretch light olive
underwing - CDC dun
wing - Congo Hair black
legs - partridge dyed light olive
head - dubbing light olive

Scott

Wonderful Scott! I can only imagine that on the waters surface, this pattern would look alive! You have captured that essence quite well! The big question....have you tried your version on your locals? Has it met with approval?
Always fascinated and delighted with what you post on this forum,
Doug
Fish when you can, not when you should! Anything short of this is just a disaster.

Doug,

Not yet, but will be heading back out west in a few weeks; hope the green drakes and flavs are hatching then.

Scott

Good substitute.

I use to fish this pattern (with the sheeting) quite a bit on the high lakes of central Oregon. Never did well with it on moving water but it performed great for me on the lakes for cruising sippers.
I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.
