Sparrow
Jack Gartside's "sparrow" on some vintage iron. All ring neck Phesant with the exception of some Dave Whitlock's SLF dubbing for the abdomen.

Re: Sparrow
That to me would be one of those flies you put in a glass case and just admire it. That's a beautiful fly and the dark color in the hackle near the head is very attractive.
I can't even see a fish biting on it just out of respect.

Stunning pattern, and photographed so well. Great job!
Is that a size 10?

Re: Sparrow
That's a personal favorite fly. Got to tie alongside Jack at a show in Seattle once years ago. I had a private tutor in tying the Sparrow and wet mouse. Jack was years ahead of his time.

Thank yall so much! That's HIIGH praise coming from a group of guys so talented. DUBBN yes sir it's a size 10. I like to tie the big-ish and fully dressed for creek largemouth bass. Hence the stout salmon hook. Plus I just have a weakness for up eye hooks.

Two words come to mind: Museum Quality!
What thread did you use for the head and what did you coat it with to get that glow?
Thanks- Ken

Thanks man! I really appreciate it. The thread is 50D SemperFli GSP in copper color. I really like it and use it for the majority of my tying right now. It's crazy strong, doesn't build much bulk, splits easy, and is super translucent so it takes on whatever color materials you're using it on in most cases. You can use it on olive, brown, orange...just about any dark natural tone.
