Davie McPhail has a great vid; for some reason (5 yr old OS?), mine keeps dropping out halfway thru so this is for my sanity as much as anything. A neat, easy sunken beetle; this would be fun to swing past some cut-banks.
hook - Mustad 3906 #8
thread - Danville 6/0 black
rib - oval tinsel silver
shellback - peacock sword
body - rug yarn dubbing black (original calls for seal)
wing - Amherst pheasant tippet
hackle - hen black
mash barb, start thread, tie in rib, wrap to bend

tie in some peacock sword fibers by the tips

dub thread/dub body

rib body; tie off/trim

pull shellback forward; tie off/trim

strip off some AP tippet fibers; measure (tips to bend), tie in/trim

tie in folded hackle (this was a saddle; turned out to be too heavy so I swapped in a cape feather)

wrap; tie off/trim, half hitch x 2, SHHAN
