The Belmont (variation) SBS

Not the third leg of the Triple Crown; a lake pattern from Shetland. Wouldn't have bothered with a SBS since most of it is pretty basic, but I was watching a Davie McPhail video and saw a cool way to tie in peacock sword, keeping the curvature of the fibers intact, so I thought I'd throw it in.
hook - Mustad 3399A #12
thread - Danville 6/0 black
rib - tinsel gold
abdomen - peacock herl
hackle - hen brown
underwing - Krystal Flash red
wing - peacock sword
mash barb, start thread, tie in tinsel and wrap to bend
tie in some peacock; twist around thread and wrap forward, one eye width back from the eye
counterwrap rib; tie off/trim
strip fibers off one side of hackle, tie in by tip; wrap, tie off/trim
stroke fibers down, back, cover with thread
tie in KF; trim even with bend
trim some sword fibers, still attached to the quill
measure (gap width past bend), curved over the back
tie in, trim, build head, whip, SHHAN (thanks again, Davie)
Regards,
Scott
